The airport has one domestic and one international terminal. At present, over 30 international airlines connect Nepal to destinations in Asia and the Middle East, and the airport serves as a hub for several Nepalese airlines. It is the sole international airport in Nepal.

Sajha Yatayat buses connect the airport's international terminal to city centre, with the last bus leaving the airport at around 18:00.
